JD Edwards Release 22 – So Much More Than A New Name
JD Edwards EnterpriseOne is now JD Edwards Release 22. This new method of naming of releases is for the purposes of making it easy for customers to recognise when Oracle has delivered new features for JD Edwards.
New releases will be forthcoming annually, so this year’s release is current until 2022, while next year will be release 23, for the year 2023.
JD Edwards Release 22 encompasses both the Application Updates (Apps Update 6); and Tools Updates (Tools 9.2.6, Tools 9.2.6.1, Tools 9.2.6.2 etc).
Enhancements In JDE Release 22 You Should Know About
As expected, this release has come with a wide range of enhancements designed to help you extend Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and eliminate manual tasks. The following list of new core module enhancements are the ones to get excited about:
Financials: Numerous Joint Venture Enhancements
- You can now select transactions by GL Date. Multiple applications have been modified to enable selection by either Service/Tax Date or GL Date.
- Improved Processing for large volumes of Joint Venture Account Ledger Revisions
- There is now a batch job for processing large volumes of joint venture account ledger revisions.
- Joint Venture Hierarchy provides users a visual guide to the structure of the business units that make up a joint venture, including that business unit’s place in the joint venture.
- Foreign currency joint venture cash calls allows you to define cash calls in any currency and process invoices in a specified currency, for those times where cash calls need to be made in a currency other than the JV base company currency.
Visual Masking Of Bank Account Numbers
This Is an excellent move on Oracle’s part that further enhances security of this sensitive information.
Real Estate Management: Handy Reporting Enhancements
Leasing agents can now specify up to five lease statuses to exclude from the log detail reports, while the Log Detail Listing report has been updated to include the lease name with the lease number which means you don’t need to look up the lease name anymore.
Workflow Modelling in Orchestrator Studio
Workflow Studio has also been added to Orchestrator. The new UI of the Workflow Modeler in Orchestrator Studio is more user-friendly and gives a comprehensive view of Workflow and its associated tasks.
This allows for the management of existing standard JDE workflows. The workflow studio is in its infancy and Oracle are looking to expand the functionality in this area.
Further Reducing the Need for JDE Customisation
Users can now create external forms from an EnterpriseOne Web Client, which are a brilliant way to host applications within the E1 user interface. So you no longer need to create external forms using the EnterpriseOne development client. There are also form extension improvements and form personalisation capabilities.
You can also now launch Orchestrations from a Composed EnterpriseOne Page.
Release 22 allows you to implement what you need without the need for code or worrying about how a customisation will be affected by future application and tools updates.
